Once your new baby is here it is important to have the time together to lie in and bond. This time is greatly enhanced with guidance and a strong support system.  This community of care may include family, friends, neighbors and a postpartum doula.

We, at Bundle of Joy Postpartum Doula Care, offer professional postpartum homecare to families while they adjust to life with their new baby.  Support and education about newborn care, breastfeeding & feeding issues, self care, coping skills, household management and nursery or sleeping organization are all within the duties of a Postpartum Doula. The postpartum doula is trained and experienced in recognizing the needs of parents and newborns and can also offer referrals to professionals and support groups when needed.

The postpartum period is a time for the family to develop their confidence and find their own parenting style. Postpartum care is an invaluable support to new parents and to anyone adding a baby or babies to their family.  Postpartum care should always be considered when there are unique challenges; first time parents, birth of multiples, infant adoption, a history of postpartum depression or anxiety disorders and  for those going back to outside employment soon after birth. Also, a doula can provide antepartum care for the time leading up to the birth.  This might include a time of bedrest or just extra hands while "nesting". The presence of an experienced doula can be a comfort to you and an invaluable resource when everything feels so new. The postpartum doula will respect and support your choices as parents while educating and assisting you. We recommend a minimum of 40 days of postpartum care.

The postpartum doula is sensitive to the needs of all members of the family. Becoming a parent is a huge transition and while the joy of introducing yourselves to your new baby usually takes precedence there are changes happening within all of the family relationships.  The relationships with friends, family and even each other will be going through adjustments.  A postpartum doula can give you the social support you need as you create your new family.

There are so many ways we can help you, just call and let's talk babies!
